Emory Douglas in Detroit
Reception, Screening and Q & A
Wednesday, April 18, 2018 ONLY
6:30 p.m.

A true icon, Emory Douglas served as the Minister of Culture for the Black Panther Party, creating the artwork that would become a symbol of the movement. Over the course of his career Douglas has cemented himself as a prolific artist and activist. Emory Douglas will be with us in person for this event, which includes a reception (refreshments will be served); screening of the films Emory Douglas: The Art of the Black Panthers (running time 7 minutes) and The Eyes of the Rainbow, a documentary about exiled Black Panther Assata Shakur (running time 47 minutes); and a discussion afterward. Tickets are $25 and proceeds go to The Emory Douglas Youth & Family Arts Program, a project of Feedom Freedom.
